The Kooks

Watching the NME awards the other night, you could have been forgiven for thinking that other than the arctic monkeys, British music is a pile of steaming shit. When the nations 'leading' 'musical paper' nominates coldplay and Franz Ferdinand for anything more than involuntary euthanasia, it is perhaps time to question said publications credibility. I stopped reading their abomination of a magazine the day I saw Beyonce Knowles on the cover, and I'm sure that it has continued down the same pathetic slippery slope since. Also, if you did see the NME awards you'll no doubt agree that Russell Brand should never be allowed on TV, ever, ever. The man is literally a moron.
All anti-NME sentiment aside, the point I intended to make was a much nicer one. This week, I have listened to one album over, and over, and over again. 'Inside In Inside Out' by The Kooks is the best album I've heard for a while. Granted, I've heard great tracks with great frequency, but it isn't often that a full length album comes along without a track or two that you find yourself skipping. Particular highlights (not easy given the constant high quality of all of it!) are 'Naive', 'Eddies Gun' and 'She moves in her own way'.
From start to finish the album is a masterpiece. Really, go and buy it, go and see The Kooks live, they are touring at the moment, and will be part of an MTV tour supporting The Subways soon.
