The Tourist

written by Stuart on May 13th, 2006

I’m not a religious person, and to be honest find the whole affair a bit strange, but last night, in an antiquated seaside theatre, I had what I can best describe as a religious experience. I, along with around 3,000 other disciples were gathered not to hear the teachings or a priest or an imam, nor a rabbi or pastor. No, we were assembled to watch, to listen to, to admire and to enjoy Radiohead.

Now, you will pardon my being a little poetic, but it really was very special. Seeing the worlds greatest band is one thing, but to see them in a (by RH standards) small venue, and no more than thirty feet from where I was standing was incredible. I would attempt to write a review, but it would be no more than a gushing account of how every track was better than the last, and how hearing ‘Paranoid Android’ and ‘Idioteque’ live was like nothing I’ve ever had the immense pleasure of experiencing.

Suffice to say, they were excellent, and I left Blackpool this morning with a cheesy grin plastered to my face, and a night I'll still remember when I’m old and docile.

I hear you, Stu.
I had the immense pleasure of experiencing them at the Hollywood Bowl about a year and a half ago (they’ll be at the Greek Theatre this year), and I must say, I was impressed!
I’m a huge fan, of him and his band, as well as your site.

An even better analysis is that Radiohead is consistently an equation that is “2+2=5″. P)

Hm..To be frank, I never really liked Radiohead. But I get what you mean..

Really good concers can be almost religious experiences.
