Truck Festival 2005

written by Stuart on July 24th, 2005

Truck Festival LogoSo this weekend was the culmination of a lot of hard work for a lot of people, the annual Truck Festival descended on the sleepy Oxfordshire village of Steventon. My role in the whole thing was the website, which was just one small cog in a huge machine of people who have put an unbelievable amount of work into putting on another great event.

For anyone who doesn't know about truck, its a pretty unique event. It has the feeling of a village fete, but the vast amount of cool music attracts people from across the country. It doesn't have the same corporate shit that plagues other festivals, the toilets arent sponsored, and the people selling the food and drinks actually have personalities and smiles. It seems this year truck has become an even slicker event. It was supported by BBC Collective, which is a very cool site offered by the BBC, and on my travels around I saw a few other media types mulling around. Despite this though, the things that make truck are still there.

The main stage is still…a truck, the rotary club still make the best cup of tea ever, and the real ale is still awesome. I only hung around for the music on saturday, and headed back home this morning - so I only saw a handful of acts, but I have to give mention to some of them.

  1. Get cape, wear cape fly
  2. MC lars
  3. Patrick Wolf
  4. The Schla la las
  5. Goldrush
  6. The Scaramanga Six
  7. Biffy Clyro
  8. Zoe Bicat
  9. Whalebone Polly

Were all excellent. Oh, and hi to everyone at Camp Seafood maybe I'll join you next year!
